Rollover FAQ

How do Dining Dollar rollovers work?

All Dining Dollars left at the end of fall quarter will roll over into winter quarter. The same happens from winter to spring quarters. At the end of spring quarter all left over Dining Dollars can be rolled over onto a Community Dining Plan for the following academic year if that plan is purchased by June 20, 2023. If a Community Dining Plan is not purchased by that date all leftover Dining Dollars are forfeit.

Why are my rollover funds “frozen”?

Any unspent dining dollars from the 2022-23 academic year that have rolled over onto a 2023-24 Community Dining Plan will be frozen if the 2023-24 Community Dining Plan is canceled. The remaining rollover funds will be frozen for 30 calendar days before they are forfeit. If a new Community Dining Plan is purchased in that 30-day window, the funds will be reactivated.

  • Students who will be in housing during AY 2023-24 can purchase a Community Dining Plan in the Housing portal.
  • Students who are not in housing can purchase a Community Dining Plan through the Money Matters tab on their Cal Poly Portal. These plans will be available for purchase beginning June 1, 2023.

What happens to my unspent dining dollars at the end of the quarter?

Unspent dining dollars automatically roll over quarter to quarter, until the end of the academic year.

Do my funds roll over at the end of the year?

At the end of the academic year, dining dollars can be rolled forward to the next year with the purchase of a Community Dining Plan. To rollover dining dollars from 2022-23, a 2023-24 Community Dining Plan must be purchased or selected on a 2023-24 housing application by June 20, 2023.

I didn’t purchase a Community Dining Plan, why do I still see dining dollars in my account?

Students who do not purchase a Community Dining Plan will still see the forfeited funds in their account until all rollovers are processed prior to the 2023-24 academic year.

What happens to my rollover funds if I cancel my plan?

Rollover dining dollars are not refundable. The funds will be frozen for 30 calendar days, to allow time to add a new Community Dining Plan which will reactivate the funds. If no plan is added by the end of the 30-day window, the funds will be forfeit.

I had funds left on my dining plan at the end of last year, why didn’t they roll over?

Dining plans are designed for annual spending and any unspent dining dollars remaining on a plan at the end of the academic year are forfeit. All unspent dining dollars can be rolled over to the following academic year with the purchase of a Community Dining Plan by the stated deadline. If no community dining plan was purchased by the June 20, 2023 deadline, all dining dollars remaining from 2022-23 were forfeit.
